FOR PROCUREMENT OF SUPPLY CHAIN CONSULTANTS
The Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation has received funds from the German Development Co-operation (KFW) and intends to use part of the proceeds to procure Supply Chain Consultants. The Ministry through the Division of Reproductive Health (DRH) is charged with the provision of quality reproductive health services to all Kenyans in order to achieve its mandate and ensure the attainment of MDGs 4 and 5. The provision of quality reproductive health commodities is an integral part of this. Good procurement and supply chain management is therefore significant in achieving this objective. In that regard, the Ministry wishes to engage local or international consultants (individuals/firms) for short term assignments, for approximately six (6 No.) Months.
National Guidelines for Health Workers
The review of this Diagnosis and Management Guideline is indeed a milestone in the control of visceral leishmaniasis in the country. This is in line with the recommendation of the WHO Consultative Meeting on Visceral Leishmaniasis Control: from recommendations to implementation; held from 10-12 November 2010 in Geneva.
The diagnosis and treatment of Visceral Leishmaniasis has been faced with some challenges. For a long time case diagnosis has relied on splenic/bone marrow aspirates which can only be carried out by skilled health workers. The development of a rapid diagnostic test kits that can be used by health workers with only little training will help in case diagnosis even at the lowest health facilities level.
